150th Anniversary for Speakers Corner

Monday 27th June 2022 represents a huge anniversary for London’s Speakers Corner.
The 27 June 2022 marks 150 years to the day that this area in the North East corner of Hyde Park in London received full legal protection as a place for free speech. The Parks Regulation Act 1872 established for the first time, the legal status of Speakers’ Corner for public speaking and meeting place.
Regulars of the Corner and leading advocates of free speech plan to gather at the Corner on Monday 27th June 2022 to commemorate and celebrate this momentous occasion for “the jewel in our free speech crown”.
