Leadership in a crisis

It is at moments of crisis and intense challenge when strong and effective leadership is most needed. Whether it is leadership of the country by our Prime Minister and Cabinet, leadership of our employers by the Chief Executive and Directors, leadership of our teams by our managers and supervisors and even the leadership of (our) trade unions.

Whether the current Covid-19 virus pandemic is considered a real crisis or not, and there are those who question whether it is an actual true global crisis or an artificial panic being whipped up by hysterical forces, these are times where true leadership becomes so incredibly important.

A sensible head and calm hands, steering the ship firmly and pragmatically through the stormy waters will see us through to the calm on the other side.

I believe Boris Johnson is currently showing signs of immense leadership. He has shown a calm and measured approach from the outset and this could be an unexpected defining moment of his premiership. He has set up a five-strong war Cabinet chaired…
