Discussion of the manifesto at Speakers Corner, 23 June 2019

Having spoken to a number of people, I have decided to put down my own personal manifesto, how I see that things should be tackled, prioritised and sorted.

The question is of course, which political party best matches this agenda, if indeed any do?

So here we go:

Individual rights

Clarification and protection of our individual rights of freedom, equality and democracy through a written constitution. Human rights enshrined in British law, not European law. Our rights fully protected for all those characteristics on which we have no choice, namely gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation and disability. As a modern society, with a multitude of old and new religions and philosophical beliefs and where religious belief is generally on the wane, as a subject of personal choice, religious belief removed from the Equality Act and no longer provided specific protection in law.

Democracy

Review and implementation of more proportionally representative systems of voting across all our forms of elections, including Parliamentary elections. Review of Parliamentary constituencies with a view to reducing to circa 500. Further review of the House of Lords and subsequent significant reduction in their numbers, attendance requirements legislated, removal of all Bishops from the Lords and half the…
